Vanessa Sheridan is ProGroup's subject matter expert on the complex topic of transgender diversity in the workplace. Since 1991, she has been speaking, presenting, training, and writing on transgender issues. Vanessa is passionate about helping organizations successfully develop work environments in which everyone, transgender or otherwise, can feel included, respected, actively engaged, and fully productive.
Vanessa's groundbreaking book, Crossing Over: Liberating The Transgendered Christian, was a double finalist for the coveted national Lambda Literary Award in 2002. Vanessa is also the author, with Virginia Ramey Mollenkott, Ph.D., of Transgender Journeys, another pioneering book that was a finalist for a 2004 Lambda Literary Award. Currently, Vanessa is developing a comprehensive book manuscript on the topic of transgender in the workplace. She is also a featured columnist for Lavender Magazine, the upper Midwest's leading GLBT publication.
Vanessa has worked closely with the University of Minnesota's Program in Human Sexuality to develop and present groundbreaking programs that promote self-esteem, good health, and the prevention of HIV/AIDS for transgender persons. She also presents regularly on transgender issues to groups of physicians and medical students at the Mayo Clinic. Her extensive business experience includes transportation management, business curriculum writing, consulting, and leadership development research.
Vanessa holds a B.A. in counseling/psychology from Metropolitan State University, and has done graduate work at United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities. An effective facilitator and an insightful, articulate speaker, she loves to help clients successfully align their cultural strategy with their business strategy.
